Annually the Folio Society chooses one illustrator/designer they've worked during the year to design the cover of their prestigious diary. I was picked to design the cover of their 2022 cover which is sent to customers and industry contacts.
The brief was wide open and of course, being me, I wanted to draw huge 3D figures and combine them with patterns.
Of the three options I put forward, the chosen design is a twist on my usual approach. Rather than decorate the face of the letters, I thought it might be fun to focus on their extruded sides. The patterns contains little images of the four seasons; Snowdrops, strawberries, mushrooms and icicles.
The cover title is set in my font, Rig Sans.
